SISTERS IN CHRIST CONFERENCE

SISTERS IN CHRIST CONFERENCE, FEBRUARY 25

Women, mark your calendars for Saturday, February 25 for this year's Sisters in Christ Conference.  There is no charge to attend the conference, other than the cost of riding the bus and lunch money should you choose to purchase lunch there.  (You can bring your own lunch.)  Sign up at the Women's Ministry table outside the Prayer Room. The Conference will be held at Mount Holly Church in Carrollton, GA.   A large number of women will attend this Conference, so sign up soon so we can get registered!  This is an awesome conference— just ask any of our women who have attended in the past.  And— IT'S FREE! (There's not much of that around these days.)

Wonder of Wonders

The Wonder of Wonders group, also known as the W.O.W. group meets on the 2nd Thursday of each month.  This group meets for a meal at 6:00 PM in the Family Life Center located in building "C".  Occasionally this group will meet off campus at a local restaurant.

The intent of this group is to support and encourage mature single adults.  Many members of this group have been involved long term, while others are fairly new to the group.  We encourage any person who is living as a widow or widower, divorced or never married to join this group for support, encouragement, and fellowship.

WMU

Currently, we have 2 active Women's Missionary Union groups that meet. These groups meet....

1st Monday - 7:00 pm    WMU Round Table group (this group meets off campus in various member homes)
3rd Monday - 7:15 pm  Helpful Hearts WMU group (this group meets off campus in various member homes)

If you have an interest in Missions both locally and around the world, this is the place to be.  Each month these groups each have a mission project.  Some are local, such as the prison ministry, a needy family, or the food bank; some are worldwide, such as the Samaritan's Purse shoe box ministry, Annie Armstrong and Lottie Moon Offerings, and Youth Mission Trips.  These groups also have a prayer focus as well as study about doing the work of missions.

As a part of our bridge building ministry, we maintain a community ministries area with a clothes closet and a food pantry.
The food pantry and clothes closet are open on Tuesday and Thursday from 1:00 - 2:30pm. Volunteers staff these areas to serve the needs of the community. Read More

What is DEAM?

DEAM is supported by 23 Decatur area churches to provide emergency assistance to individuals within the Decatur area. The ministry offers non-perishable food, rent assistance, utility assistance and prescription medication assistance to qualifying people. The center is open year-round and is staffed by volunteers and one paid employee. The Avondale location also provides used clothing.

What can I do for DEAM?

We accept donations of money and non-perishable food like canned meats, pasta, rice, corn bread, cereal, pasta sauces and jelly. You can donate at the church or bring it directly to the DEAM office during working hours.

We are always glad to welcome new volunteers to the ministry. You will be trained in the process and can work in various capacities. The experience is very rewarding because this mission is entirely designed to support our local communities of Decatur and Avondale Estates. An average of 300 folks are helped every month through DEAM.
