Widows Or Widowers

The Widows or Widowers group, also known as the W.O.W. group meets on the 2nd Thursday of each month.  This group meets for a meal at 6:00 PM in the Family Life Center located in building "C".  Occasionally this group will meet off campus at a local restaurant.

The intent of this group is to support and encourage those who are surviving spouses.  Many members of this group have been involved long term, while others are fairly new to the group.  We encourage any person who is living as a widow or widower to join this group for support, encouragement, and fellowship.

WMU

Currently, we have 3 active Women's Missionary Union groups that meet. These groups meet....

1st Monday - 10:00 am    Sarah Bryant WMU group (Main library, building "B", 1st floor)
2nd Monday- 7:00 pm    WMU Round Table group (this group meets off campus in various member homes)
3rd Monday -  7:15 pm    Helpful Hearts WMU group (this group meets off campus in various member homes)  This group will NOT be meeting during the summer months.  Helpful Hearts will resume its regular schedule in September.

If you have an interest in Missions both locally and around the world, this is the place to be.  Each month these groups each have a mission project.  Some are local, such as the prison ministry, a needy family, or the food bank; some are worldwide, such as the Samaritan's Purse shoe box ministry, Annie Armstrong and Lottie Moon Offerings, and Youth Mission Trips.  These groups also have a prayer focus as well as study about doing the work of missions.

Central Dekalb Mission
Central Dekalb Mission is an activity for middle and high school boys and girls.
Central DeKalb Mission
The Central DeKalb Mission is a local organization that spreads the Gospel in a variety of ways to teenagers and preteens in Central DeKalb County.  Our church is long-time supporters of the mission and continue to sponsor their work through financial giving and by allowing the group to use church space for programs and office space.  Chris Skinner, a longtime member at our church, is the Director of the mission.  He and other part-time staff and volunteers lead numerous programs in the community for youth including a Bible Study at Avondale High School & Avondale Middle School, a Tuesday Night program for youth (sponsored by, and held at our church), a Flag Football team, a recreation program at a local apartment complex, a weekly mentoring time for boys, a weekly dance program for girls, along with special one-time events.

For more information on the Central DeKalb Mission, contact Chris Skinner at (770) 330-2764.
As a part of our bridge building ministry, we maintain a community ministries area with a clothes closet and a food pantry.
July 15, 2008 The food pantry and clothes closet are open on Tuesday and Thursday from 1:00 - 2:30pm. Volunteers staff these areas to serve the needs of the community. Read More
