Meet the Staff
This church staff is vital part of the ministry of the church. Each of our staff members is committed to serving God and this church.
Ministerial Staff
Clay Bowden
Senior Pastor |
Clay joined our staff in August 2004. He has a great desire to meet the community where they are. His vision is to build community within the church as well as bringing those who dwell near us to become a part of the community we serve and minister to each day. |
Mark Green
Associate Pastor: Music and Education |
We welcomed Mark to our staff in August 2006. Mark is a graduate of Southern Baptist Theological Seminary with a double Master, one in Church Music and the second in Christian Education. One of Mark's commitments is to broaden the music ministry to incorporate the community in new choral and instrumental groups. |

Amanda & Melissa joined our team summer of 2009! Their team approach to ministry with students is an exciting addition to our staff. Both have been students at Ga Tech and bring a great deal of energy and enthusiasm for our youth and families! |

Christine Sharp
Parents Morning Out Director

Christine is an experienced administrator and a very creative person! She is directing our newest ministry program for preschoolers and parents. |
Fran Whatley
Preschool Care Coordinator

Fran is serving in the important role of overseeing the childcare needs for our preschoolers.

Chris Mize & Kalen Gary
Children's Ministry Interns
|
Chris and Kalen joined our staff in October of 2010. As students at Georgia Tech, they bring abundant energy and enthusiasm to our ministry with children in grades K5 through Fifth. They have begun a new Wednesday night program called ReCON and often handle the Children's Sermon during morning worship.

J. Eddie Coon
Business Administrator |
Eddie joined us in July 2003. Eddie's experience in the business world gives him great insight into the behind the scenes church business. Eddie is a vital bridge between the councils, members and staff in effecting the administration of all areas of the church. Eddie is also an ordained minister of the gospel. |

Jacinda Holley
Administrative Assistant

Jacinda joined the staff in October of 2007. She has experience in publishing and book keeping and has a desire to do whatever is needed to help the Avondale team to be the best it can be. |
Tim Turner
Facilities Manager |
Tim has been with the staff since 1989. His commitment to keep the church facilities in working condition continues. We can always depend on Tim to serve in any way he can. |
Jeannie Holcombe
Receptionist |
Jeannie joined the team in January 1999. If you call the church office, or stop by to visit, her friendly voice or smile is the first thing you will experience. |
Tim Stewart
Organist |
Tim has his Doctorate in music. He not only plays the organ, but also tunes all our pianos and keeps them in good working order. |
Nancy Mann
Pianist |
Nancy has been with us for over 20 years. Her devotion to music and to playing for the church and the choir are never ending. |
Mike Parker
Operations Assistant / Custodian |
Mike joined the team in early 2006. He assures that our buildings are open prior to regular Sunday and Wednesday activities, as well as closing and locking the buildings at the conclusion of the evening. Mike also handles custodial duties part-time.
