With an enrollment of nearly 60 singers, the Chancel Choir has a strong reputation for singing quality music with excellence and artistry. In addition to leading in congregational singing each week, the Chancel Choir presents traditional anthem literature and hymn arrangements as part of each Sunday Morning Worship Service. The Chancel Choir also presents the annual Christmas in Avondale: A Festival of Lessons and Carols each Christmas and is the featured choir at the church’s traditional Maundy Thursday Service during Holy Week. Enrollment is open to older youth and adult singers who have a strong desire to serve God through music and singing. Rehearsals are Wednesday evenings August through June at 7:35 PM in the Choir Room. No audition necessary.
A three to five octave handbell ensemble of ten to twelve ringers who perform handbell arrangements of hymns in Sunday Morning Worship Services throughout the year, primarily during holiday seasons of Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter. Rehearsals are Wednesday evenings September through May at 5:05 PM in the Choir Room. No prior handbell experience needed. Music reading ability required.
Sure Foundation Men's Ensemble
A subgroup of the Chancel Choir, the Sure Foundation Men’s Ensemble is an adult ensemble of ten to twelve men who love to sing traditional Southern Gospel style songs and arrangements. They perform regularly in worship and at church and community events throughout the greater Atlanta area. Rehearsals are on Sunday morning at 8:45 AM in the Choir Room. Active Chancel Choir membership required. No audition necessary.
Avondale Brass Ensemble
The ABE is a small ensemble of trumpet and trombone players who perform occasionally throughout the year often with organ accompaniment. Rehearsals are TBA. Music reading ability and instrumental proficiency required.
Avondale Children's Choir
- Open to children age 6 – 13 from Avondale, Decatur, and the surrounding communities
- Presenting sacred and secular music incorporating a variety of styles from classical to show tunes!
